The license is applicable to all business forms, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, limited liability partnerships, and even non-governmental organizations engaged in international trade. It is valid for a lifetime and does not need to be renewed.
Types of Import Export Code license
- 1. Proprietorship IEC License
Issued to individual business owners who are working as sole proprietors. frequently found in small importers and exporters.
- 2. Partnership Firm IEC License
Applicable for businesses registered as partnerships. The IEC is issued in the name of the partnership firm, not individual partners.
- 3.Private Limited / Public Limited Company
Companies that are registered under the Companies Act are eligible for an IEC license. An authorized director signs and issues the IEC in the company's name.
- 4. IEC License for Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP)
for companies that are LLP-registered. Similar to a partnership, but with Limited Liability
- IEC License for Trusts, Societies, and Hindu Undivided Families
